5.2 Tone

Online communities often have a fairly relaxed feel, especially if you’re working hard to build trust between members. Many participants will follow your lead, so it’s important to share positive comments and encourage participants because that will help them expand their ideas and thinking – especially if they’re new to online platforms and afraid of saying the wrong thing.

It’s important to establish a spirit of collaboration. If there’s a lot of money involved, there’s a serious risk that participants will begin to compete with each other, so be sure to let them know from the beginning that they’re expected to collaborate, and that the challenge is not about competing.
